Our stories

The highlight of my Father's Day celebration was the event that was held in my church which was called parents day where we celebrated both mothers and fathers . We heard touching stories from families on how they overcome their problems together and how they sacrificed what they love for their parents , there was also a Photo Booth where me and my family took this picture together. It was heart warming and i came to a realisation of how blessed i am to have a father cause i know friends who have lost their father when they were young . I say that i'm blessed to have my father , though we may disagree on certain things , he's still the one who provided everything that i need and the only father that i have . So to appreciate and thank him for everything he has done, my family and i brought him out for dinner at a fancy restaurant .

This picture was taken at the dinner hosted by my grandfather. Every year, I would celebrate father's day with my big family. By the word big family, its doesn't mean my family of 6 is a large number, but my family which included us 6, our grandparents, our uncles and aunts and our cousins. grandpa would invite all of us for a Father's Day lunch or dinner in different locations. Like the yesteryears, I celebrated Father's Day this year with them. As the third generation kids, we organised some activities, like giving out red roses to the dads and singing songs for the dads. As our grandpa is a very precious man, we usually celebrated Father's Day as his birthday (which means he celebrates his birthday three times a year- according to the Georgian calendar, Lunar calendar and Father's Day!). We'd buy a special cake for him, sing him birthday songs and take turns to take family photos with our grandparents. As the Chinese idiom goes "an elderly in the house means a treasure at home", all of us truly treasure our grandparents' existence and are really thankful for them to be here with us until now.

This man here is my dad, actually he’s my step dad. Even though we’re not related, he still played an important role in my life; that is being there for me and being my father. During Father’s Day, I drove my dad to Publika for a brunch at a place called ‘The Red Bean Bag’. He had always wanted to try it out so I figured we go there for a Father’s Day brunch. Just like Mother’s Day, I too had to pay for my dad’s meal.

Just like what my sis and I do for mother's day, we do the same thing on the 3rd sunday of June as well every year. This year, my dad had been hinting that he wanted a cool new toaster that he saw on Lazada.com. Therefore, me being the creative and sneaky daughter I am, made a paper toaster as his card this year instead! Ad guess what, there was 'bread' in the toaster which totaled up to the cost of the toaster that he wanted. My sis made him a shirt card because he always wears shirts. xD Anyway, when my dad saw the money we prepared for his new toaster, he wanted to give it back to us, as what a dad would usually do, but we insisted that he spent it on himself since it's father's day after all. I even joked that it's originally his money anyway. xD But i'm pretty sure he put the money back into my bank account... Dad, I just want to say thank you so much for always being there for me and for taking care of us when mom goes to work, I don't think anyone else would have a dad as awesome as you, always willing to listen to his two daughters and always there whenever we need advice. I'm really thankful that you created a happy family for us all, your efforts in briging the family on trips to bond all the time is what I will always treasure and be proud of. I hope you'll be proud of me too and happy father's day, I love you dad!

I couldn't be there with my father on Father's Day because I study abroad. But nonetheless I did wish him and dedicated a part of my day to listening to his old favorite songs, because it makes me feel as if my dad is somewhere around. I planned with my sisters and they spent the day out with him and mom. They gave him gifts from my behalf as well. I video called them up when they were at the family dinner, just because I'm away doesn't mean I have to miss out everything. So show love and appreciation towards your father and his hard work, because he does it all for his children.

Father's Day
In all honesty, between father's day and mother's day, mother's day would be a more popular occasion to celebrate even though father's day has exactly the same reason and meaning as to why people celebrate mother's day. Many it is because there's so many reasons as to why we should appreciate them, and that they have done so much for us to a point where sometimes we take them for granted. We forget that the reason why we have a roof over our head and all the luxury in our lives is mainly because of them. They work hard just to earn a living to support us even though sometimes they can't express their feelings of love towards us well and vice versa, but they do express it in other ways by working hard to pay bills and keep us happy and safe. So, as soon as your father gets back from work or whenever he's free, we advice you to go up to him and show him that you appreciate everything he has done for you in your own way. maybe a simple thank you or offering him a drink would make him feel that he made the right decision to have you. In life, it's the little things that counts. we're sure that it would put a smile on your father's face. For this project, just like for mother's day, we celebrated with our dads and included what we did for our father's on father's day. maybe you could get some ideas from it too! Oh yeah, do be sure to check out our father's day survey that we conducted in concussion to father's day!
FATHER'S DAY SURVEY
The Father’s Day Survey was created a week before Father’s Day. After discussing with our lecturer, Ms Liyana about the questions we would like to include in the survey, we had spread the survey among our family and friends. The aim of this survey was to gather information about how close people are to their fathers and how much do the children love them. The surveyors were required to write down in words about their father or father figure, which bounds them to think more deeply and make them realise how much a father figure means to them.

We had received a total of 70 responses from different age groups, ranging from 11 to 60 years old. There were more than 80% of females that took the survey.
We hope the conducting of this survey reminds our surveyors of this special day for dads, which we think is more than often neglected by children than Mother’s Day.
